You may be eligible for Employment Support Allowance (ESA)
- ESA pays up to £67.50 a week, subject to terms and conditions such as having paid adequate NI contributions.
- It has to be claimed
- The first three days of each claim are not covered
- ESA ia only payable for the first thirteen weeks of incapacity, then is subject to medical review by a Government appointed GP, not your own
- It ends if you can perform any work regardless of your profession or whether a suitable job exists.
Are you an employee?
You may be eligible for State Sickness Pay (SSP)
- SSP is a compulsory payment by a business to a qualifying employee, who works at least 25 hours a week
- It pays £81.05 a week
- Is subject to the same restrictions as above
